I am trying to extract the .zip file to place into my saves folder, but it shows the error message "path too long" when I try to.

Try extracting it in a place that's closer to your main directory. An example if you're on windows:
instead of extracting it in "C:/Users/[USERNAME]/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/saves", try placing it in your "C:\Users[USERNAME]\Desktop" or just "C:/" and then moving it into your saves folder from there.
