Download firmware binary: novacustom_v56x_mtl_dgpu_v1.0.0_rc10_btg_provisioned.rom

Use the Dasharo Configuration Utility (DCU) to change the firmware settings. DCU gives a warning about uninitialized binaries and reports that the settings have been saved successfully.

Flash the firmware binary to the laptop.

Expected behavior

Firmware settings are changed as set.

Actual behavior

Firmware settings are not changed and are as default.

Changing settings works now after updating the SDK version used in DCU:

• dcuc: update dasharo-sdk to v1.9.2 dcu#25
  To include an smmstoretool fix:
• Dasharo/coreboot@279a9aa

Tested on V540TND with dasharo v1.0.0 release rom with production BTG keys.

Flashed the v1.0.0 release firmware: novacustom_v54x_mtl_dgpu_v1.0.0_btg_prod.rom
Then changed:

• SerialRedirection -> Enabled
• MeMode -> Disabled (HAP)
• FanCurveOption -> Performance
• LockBios -> Disabled
  Using the dcuc variable subcommand.

All these are correctly initialised to the selected values after flashing the modified binary:

sudo flashrom -p internal --fmap -i bios -i me -w novacustom_v54x_mtl_dgpu_v1.0.0_btg_prod.rom

We've got DCU OSFV tests, but they only really cover verifying whether changes to a live binary work, not whether we can successfuly initialize the store in a fresh never-booted binary.

If I git clone DCU, should I be able to use the dcu binary?

If that won't work, do you have build instructions, please?

Yes, you can use it right away after cloning. No build is required. It's better to use the containerized version dcuc. https://github.com/dasharo/dcu#dasharo-configuration-container
