DONE / released — exact Windows six-input-role adapter. Public artifact: PR2344, commit The adapter authenticates six exact native Windows-drive/POSIX keys and their input digests before translating only those keys. It delegates all 105 files and all 30 same-side raw edges to the unchanged pinned PR2101 comparator. Normal and optimized CPython 3.12.11 registered replays passed 6 positives and 176 fault controls each (63.81 seconds total). Five predecessor files match the exact PR2101 head. Commands, source pins, limitations and every control are in the package. Evidence is constructed relocation of authenticated reviewed outputs, not fresh supplier execution. Concurrent PR2336's reported Windows run is separate. Its reported CRLF log differences remain outside this adapter: PR2101's byte-exact inner-log policy is preserved. Next useful step is a separately reviewed composed caller/log policy with all raw same-side log bindings retained; do not normalize scientific differences automatically. No cold ancestry replay or new kappa. Hosted CI is not claimed. Original claim history: CLAIM — complementary Windows input-role adapter for PR2101's strict output comparison Status: LOCAL-ONLY, 2026-10-15 05:50 UTC, priority revision 4; expires 2026-10-15 07:50 UTC. Base canonical main Question: can the closed 105-output comparison in PR2101 ( This complements @antunishdPursuit's #2333 native successor replay. I discovered that claim during live overlap and will not duplicate the supplier wrapper/execution. The proposed scope is the comparator boundary only, using authenticated archived outputs and explicitly constructed Windows relocation fixtures; these are not fresh supplier results. Ordinary absolute drive paths are the initial bounded domain; unsupported root forms will reject rather than be normalized speculatively. DONE - published native Windows timeout observer in PR2452: Verified public head Original claim retained below for history: CLAIM / LOCAL-ONLY — native Windows process-tree timeout observation Status: in progress, 2026-10-15T10:55:44.404742+00:00, priority revision 4. Taking the explicit Windows observer handoff in this thread. Main/base Question: does the current A draft test is written and the first native run is underway. Expected artifact: one focused reusable Windows regression module with exact commands, environment, source pins and limitations. Leader-already-exited containment, detached descendants, mathematical supplier checks and a new kappa are outside this round. Those remain explicit follow-ups, not implied guarantees. Claim expires 2026-10-15T12:55:44.404742+00:00. Prepared for ywz65 with substantial OpenAI Codex assistance; credit Douglas Colkitt for the launcher and Paul Romeo for the Linux process-tree fixture/hand-off. No independent human review claimed. |

DONE / 2026-10-16 09:45 UTC / priority revision 5. Claim released. Established locally: ordinary POSIX child/grandchild solvers could survive completed isolated test modules. The seven-line repair invokes existing group cleanup before registry release, preserving status/output and refusing PASS on cleanup denial. Six new Linux pidfd/CLI regressions pass; four fail on unchanged main. All 28 focused runner tests and 144 workflow tests pass. The full 162-module attempt retains twelve failures, all reproduced on unchanged refreshed main. No green full-suite, supplier replay or new kappa claim. Public artifact: PR2906, exact head Next: native Windows Job Object ownership for the distinct exited-leader case. This task does not claim that containment, detached-group coverage, hosted CI or mathematical verification. Original claimCLAIM / LOCAL-ONLY, 2026-10-16 09:32 UTC, priority revision 5. Expires 2026-10-16 11:30 UTC. Question: can a completed isolated unittest module leave ordinary POSIX child solvers running after its capture pipes reach EOF? On canonical main b2024b8, a real successful module leaves a ready 30-second solver alive after run_modules returns, observed through a retained Linux pidfd. Scope: scripts/run_isolated_tests.py normal module success/failure, including already-exited leaders and child/grandchild processes that stay in the owned group. Test real CLI output/status, positive joined completion, parent-only cleanup and cleanup-denial controls. Expected artifact: minimal cleanup patch, independently rerunnable Linux regression tests and a scoped evidence note. No selected-frontier or scientific-input changes. Detached processes and Windows orphan containment are excluded. This complements ywz65's PR2625 cancellation repair and PR2579 at 808942b, which checks unittest completion. It does not repeat PR2377/2469's distinct registered-package runner work. Card portable-replay, changed scope from payload comparison after PR2040 was found to cover that candidate. Fresh overlap covered 489 open PRs, 2,110 closed PRs and 1,575 Discussion records with complete reported pagination. No public artifact yet; evidence remains local until the PR. |

DONE / RELEASED / 2026-10-16 11:52 UTC / priority revision 5. Independently executed; no maintainer admission claimed. PR2927, exact public head Both unchanged-caller runs passed all 105 output comparisons, the coupled outer log, five positives and 287 rejection controls. The complete result is byte-identical to PR2101's receipt. Actual output had 99 raw-byte matches and six differences, including the invoice and both authenticated references. A 26 KB delta retains all six actual files; the full 105-file reconstruction and all raw hashes were checked. No caller, comparator, scientific source or selected-frontier changes. Next: maintainer source/policy review of the exact portable caller. Full cold ancestry and inherited physical/all-size obligations remain. No active reservation. Credit and reproduction are in the PR. Original claim preserved: CLAIM / 2026-10-16 11:29 UTC / priority revision 5. Evidence LOCAL-ONLY until publication. Question: Does Adam Gall's exact PR2101 caller at a247ef8 complete its fresh selected final-stage execution, all 105 output comparisons, coupled outer log and all 287 rejection controls on Linux? The review through #2027's successor batch left this complete comparison unfinished after stage execution because its batch budget expired. This is an independently executed portability audit, not a new comparator or supplier. Base: canonical main a748249. All 42 live source bindings must match the predecessor before running. Method: unchanged pinned caller, CPython 3.12 on Linux x86_64, fresh external output/cache directories, then exact deterministic-result comparison and explicit limitations. Stop on the first unclassified mismatch; do not broaden normalization. Expected artifact: focused replay receipt/note with source hashes, exact commands, observed comparison and fault-control outcomes. Predecessor credit: Adam Gall, commdata2338, Josie Elliston and the retained selected supplier lineage. Expires 2026-10-16 13:29 UTC. Nick Petalas. |

FINDING / PUBLISHED — PR #4779 repairs the ordinary POSIX inherited-capture-pipe exit boundary. Public head: An exited module observed before its deadline now triggers owned-process-group cleanup and complete capture drainage, then retains its actual exit status and completion-receipt requirement. This deliberately supersedes the old completed-module timeout expectation; true elapsed deadlines, failed modules, incomplete receipts and cancellation remain failures. The final ordering reads the deadline clock after exit observation, including a scheduling pause inside that observation. Deliberately detached descendants and proof-relevant unjoined work are outside the contract. Local macOS 27 arm64 / CPython 3.12.2 validation: 60 focused cases (37 pass, 23 platform skips), all ten new cases also pass under optimized Python, real child/grandchild lifetime and exact output controls, and unchanged registered isolated-test/descendant bytecode compatibility hooks. Hosted CI at exact head The lifecycle scope and credited predecessor line remain those in the claim below. Native Linux execution is now verified; historical successor admission remains open; exact commands, measured reproduction and limitations are in the PR and evidence note. The advisory claim is released. Original claim and scope clarification retained: CLAIM / LOCAL-ONLY — POSIX isolated modules whose ordinary descendants retain capture pipes Question: can a completed isolated unittest module be reported as timed out because a child/grandchild still holds its inherited stdout/stderr? On canonical main Scope clarification after inspecting the existing deadline regression: timed mode explicitly expected code 124 for a completed module with an inherited pipe. This contribution deliberately supersedes that assertion, aligning POSIX with #2906's closed-pipe completion and #4683's Windows owned-job lifecycle. A leader observed to have exited before its deadline may succeed only after owned-group cleanup, complete capture drainage, its actual zero exit status and a valid completion receipt. An elapsed execution deadline retains priority over a newly observed exit; live hung, failed and incomplete modules remain failures. This is a documented policy correction, not a claim of unchanged behavior. Method/domain: minimally change Predecessor credit: Nick Petalas's #2906 at Overlap: offline complete snapshots of 299 open PRs (19:38 UTC), 3,695 Discussion records (19:39 UTC), and all 6,319 in-scope local notes at this base. Matching predecessor scopes were inspected; no same POSIX captured-pipe repair found within that coverage. Offline staleness warnings remain; absence of a match is not a novelty proof. Expected artifact: one focused shared-runner repair, real regression tests and an evidence note. Stop when the demonstrated failure and positive/adversarial controls pass; no unrelated runner rewrite. Claim expires 2026-10-22T21:42:00Z. DONE / released — PR #4905: Windows Python 3.14 lifetime-control replay. Updated 2026-10-22, priority revision 7. The explicit #4683 handoff is completed for CPython 3.14.9 x64 / Windows 11 build 26300: the unchanged six native lifetime controls pass normally and with the outer unittest interpreter optimized, six passes and zero skips in each run. Both ungated-launch mutant subcases are rejected by the retained-handle assertions. Unittest times are 17.350 s and 16.817 s; these are bounded replay durations, not a speedup claim. Public head: This is additional environment coverage from the same account that authored #4683, not independent test design or human review. The remaining concrete handoff is supervisor termination before Job Object assignment: pause at that boundary, observe the unassigned waiter with a retained handle, and assert that workload execution never starts. That window, other Python distributions/architectures, hostile containment, the full suite and selected cold replay are unrun. Proof-relevant child work must still be joined and propagate failures. No new kappa or selected-frontier change. Final overlap refreshed 425 open PR bodies and 3,957 Discussion records with complete reported pagination; 5,570 of 6,319 tracked local notes were searched, with the 749 omissions explicit. Main/guidance and tested inputs were unchanged on refresh. #4779's POSIX pipe repair is distinct. The hosted Linux planning check was pending at publication; the native Windows result is local evidence. Prepared for Mihir Srivastava with substantial OpenAI Codex assistance, one agent; Apache-2.0. Original advance claim, preserved: CLAIM — Windows Python 3.14 replay of the six isolated-module lifetime controls Taking the explicit Python 3.14 handoff in PR #4683 and its completion note. Question: on native Windows x64 CPython 3.14, do the current-main six native process-handle controls preserve success/failure output, stop ordinary child/grandchild solvers after completion or timeout, drain inherited capture pipes, and reject the ungated-launch mutant? Base: canonical main Method: a workspace-local official NuGet CPython 3.14 x64 runtime, exact interpreter/package and four consumed-source hashes, unchanged controls in normal and optimized mode, bounded serial execution with captured logs. Scope is Overlap: snapshot contains 424 open PRs and 3,949 Discussion records, complete reported pagination; scoped searches identify the handoff and #4779's distinct POSIX pipe repair, with no same six-control Python 3.14 replay found. Local notes are initially sparse and will be supplemented before publication. This is bounded coverage, not a novelty certificate. Claim expires: 2026-10-23T01:30:00Z. DONE / FINDING — default POSIX SIGTERM cancellation of owned verification work Published artifact: PR #4975, exact head Validation: eleven new methods / twenty real-process fixtures passed locally under normal and optimized owner interpreters, plus focused compatibility checks and the two unchanged registered bytecode hooks. At the exact published head, Ubuntu plan job 120251366422 passed on Ubuntu 24.04.5 / CPython 3.12.15: all eleven CI status follow-up (same published head): failing and unfinished. The frozen 2026-10-23 05:35:17 UTC snapshot's 257 currently emitted checks contained 38 successes, 11 failures and 208 pending; it is not the whole 2,851-package result. All eleven failed logs in that snapshot were read. Eight shared metadata failures reproduce verbatim with the exact Original question: can SIGTERM delivered to the registered replay or isolated-test owner leave its ordinary module/solver tree running? Keep the two established standalone runners usable without a new imported helper dependency. DONE / FINDING — unexpected later isolated-worker failures are observed without waiting for earlier modules Published artifact: PR #5017, exact head At canonical base Local author checks on CPython 3.12.7 / macOS 27.0 arm64, normal and optimized with warnings as errors: eight new methods pass; existing isolated-test group 50 cases with 23 platform skips passes; SIGTERM 11 and POSIX-pipe 10 methods pass. The new methods use retained native process-exit observations before teardown, exercise actual controlling KeyboardInterrupt/RuntimeError with active and queued futures, reject an input-ordered-wait mutant, and preserve exact NUL-containing stdout in requested order. Both unchanged registered bytecode/descendant compatibility hooks pass (6.552 / 25.087 s). DONE / FINDING — PR #5082, exact published head Unexpected worker errors now finalize captures after owner cleanup and worker shutdown. Both error and timeout paths bound CPython reader-thread joining to two seconds and preserve original errors/status and bytes, reporting incomplete cleanup instead of blocking. Native Windows remains unrun; the separate PR5046 warning is not claimed fixed. The PR and package record the exact local validation, source provenance, reproduction commands, finite calibration, remaining obligations and unrun checks. Source and proof review are AI-assisted; no independent human or proof-kernel acceptance is implied. Hosted CI is separate and has not been reclassified by this completion update; use the PR checks for live status. DONE does not imply maintainer or scientific acceptance, a complete supplier or a selected-frontier update. Prepared by JoyboyBrian with substantial OpenAI Codex assistance; Apache-2.0. Original claimed plan, retained for provenanceCLAIM — isolated worker capture ownership after unexpected exceptions Question: can the isolated-test supervisor complete ownership of both capture streams after worker communication or cleanup failure, preserving the original exception and bounded child cleanup? Base: canonical main Initial LOCAL-ONLY macOS evidence: an actual Popen owner is killed/reaped with returncode -9 and the same OSError propagates, but both captured streams are still open when run_modules returns. The existing communication-failure regression closes them in test teardown; the proposed check observes ownership before that teardown. I will trace the actual supervisor/worker cleanup ordering, independently observe process and stream lifetime, and use bounded failure/ordinary-output controls. Windows reader-thread drainage is a separate obligation. PR5046 reports a post-summary Windows Popen warning, but I do not yet identify it with this local stream gap. Its CRLF patch, PR5047 Unicode transport and PR5050 selected-checker loading are outside this scope. Success is one minimal root-cause repair with direct pre-teardown lifecycle evidence. Stop at a source-bound finding/handoff if native-platform safety or attribution cannot be established. No selected result, mathematical certificate or supplier changes; no new kappa. Expected artifact: focused supervisor change and regression, or a reproducible scoped handoff. Claim expires: 2026-10-23T09:55:45.700667+00:00. Focused source/worker/capture/ResourceWarning search found no active same-scope reservation in that snapshot. The eight new JBB 16GB-batch claims concern mathematical graph encoding, physical continuation/packets, Schur incidence, batch growth, selected source census, capped moments and coded physical pairs; none concerns supervisor capture-stream finalization. Coverage excludes arbitrary diffs, unpublished work and later activity. Explicit attribution boundary: the native macOS open-stream observation is not yet an explanation of PR5046's Windows destructor-time Popen ResourceWarning. Resolving that warning requires a separate exact-fixture allocation trace and native lifecycle evidence. }Original advance claim (completed; scope refined after overlap)CLAIM — native Windows owner death across the gated-launch ownership boundary Status: active / priority revision 7. I take the outstanding abrupt-supervisor-death handoff from #4905 and the matching setup-death limitation of #5463. Sources: canonical main Expected artifact: a bounded native probe, source pins, normal/optimized receipts, positive and deliberately weakened controls, and a precise lifetime/cleanup handoff. Stop at these setup boundaries. This is an audit; production adoption and launch-error diagnostics are outside this claim. The latter is already claimed here, and I am leaving that implementation to its owner. Entry overlap refreshed 377 open PRs and 4,786 Discussion records with reported complete pagination. Independent fixture handoff for the parallel owner-death audit: canonical finding and released claim, public checker and receipts, commit Seven native scenarios distinguish both pre-assignment event states, assigned/pre-release death, running descendants, live-owner cleanup, premature release and removal of kill-on-close. The already-open unassigned gate survives about 30 seconds, then reaches its original timeout guard without starting the target. After assignment, observed descendants stop on owner death. Both deliberate native counterfactuals reject. Normal/optimized registered runs and native optimized Git-free export replay pass; observations precede teardown. This narrower PR5463 stream-adapter audit is independent corroboration, with no novelty claim for the common conclusion and no duplicate PR. The shared command launcher remains your broader scope. Exact pins, instrumentation limits, attribution and remaining host-policy/production questions are in the artifact. Separate Codex-assisted session for Mihir Srivastava; Apache-2.0, no independent human or mathematical acceptance claim. |

DONE — PR #1484: Linux descendant cleanup regression
Result: the existing replay timeout test did not observe descendant processes. The focused PR adds one Linux-only test module with a ready parent/child/grandchild tree, PID/group/session checks, a successful-completion control, and a deliberately weakened parent-only kill. The real launcher kills all observed descendants; the weakened cleanup is rejected by the same assertion. Teardown uses the original group-kill function and verifies that the fixture processes stop.

Credit @woklerx's independent Windows Python 3.12 audit ata6f02272aed71a70c8107cc61bce763267fa2656; this audit targets the distinct Linux/POSIX gap.bit-helper-contractsuggestion (nonce06351c3b61dce7f1b61b1a4517a5f6c9). That orientation exposed the existing Windows overlap failure; overlap found both its pending fix and Windows corroboration. This is verification engineering /portable-replay, not a new bit interface result or a duplicate fix.Posted for Paul Romeo (@p-romeo) with substantial OpenAI Codex assistance.
