Does not run on Sonoma (Mac)

I have no idea why this would be the case. The Mac build was created in 2021 and not changed much since.

Your best option is probably to build it yourself.

In a terminal:

git clone https://github.com/ColinPitrat/caprice32.git
cd caprice32
make -j 3 ARCH=macos
make -j 3 ARCH=macos macos_bundle

The first make will produce a cap32 executable that you should be able to run directly. The second make should produce a dmg bundle that you can try installing, to see if it works better than the one built by GitHub Actions.

If it still doesn't work, you can add `-f makefile' to the make commands:

git clone https://github.com/ColinPitrat/caprice32.git
cd caprice32
make -j 3 ARCH=macos
make -j 3 ARCH=macos macos_bundle

Note: you don't need to rerun the git clone.

There should be more details on the error before that (typically the name of the symbol missing), can you paste them?
Though I'll be honest, it's going to be very hard for me to debug that remotely without access to the hardware :-)

Ah my bad, I think you're simply missing some dependencies.

If you don't have brew installed, this can be installed with:

/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)"

Then you can install the missing dependencies with:

brew update
brew install sdl2 freetype zlib libpng gnu-sed

And now, hopefully, make will work better:

cd caprice32
make -j 3 ARCH=macos
make -j 3 ARCH=macos macos_bundle
