Problem. LEDs that look bright on the bench can be unreadable in direct sunlight; high-power modules with hoods change the enclosure's thermal picture. An unreadable or miscalibrated tree red-lights drivers.
Test plan
- Outdoor daylight test of candidate high-power LED modules (the WS2812 rings from BOM 2.13 are for logic only).
- Verify tree states are unambiguous from the driver's position in full sun.
- Thermal soak: enclosure with LEDs at realistic duty cycle on a hot day, logged via on-board temperature telemetry.
Pass criteria. Tree readable in direct sun at driver's distance; internal temperatures stay within component ratings.
Lower risk-rank than the timing questions — schedule after the sequence logic works.
