ExtraDock 5.2.0 - Edit Mode, Browser Profiles & a Smoother Dock! ✏️🌐✨

✨ What's New

Dock Edit Mode: Your docks now stay locked, so nothing gets moved or removed by accident, and dropping a file on Trash, a shelf or an app always sends it there instead of pinning it. Right-click the dock, any item or widget, or the ExtraDock menu and choose Edit Dock to reorder items, remove them with the minus badge, drag them out, or drop files from Finder to pin them. Click the floating Save button, choose Done Editing, or press Escape or Return when you're finished!

Helpful hint on locked docks: Drop something on a locked dock where it can't go and a short "Right-click › Edit Dock to add items" hint shows you the way!

New Window with Profile: Right-click Chrome, Brave, Edge, Vivaldi or Chromium (including their Beta, Dev and Canary builds) in the dock or in the App Launcher widget to open a new window in any of your browser profiles!

See who hid a dock: When DockFlow, a Focus filter or the menu bar hides a dock, the Manager now says so (for example "Hidden by DockFlow") and offers Show Dock to bring it back!

Easier license activation: The License tab has a Paste button, the key field is ready to type in, and Return activates!

🚀 Improvements

Smoother notch: The notch opens and closes at a steady 60 frames per second, even the first time after launch!

Smoother everywhere: Collapsing a dock and auto-hide sliding in and out are smoother, and the dock no longer stutters while apps launch or quit!

Lighter on your battery: ExtraDock does much less work in the background while you're not using it!

New windows on your Space: New Window, New Incognito Window, Safari's New Window and New Private Window, and Notion's New Window from the App Launcher widget now open on the Space you're on, even when that app's other windows live on a different Desktop. Safari with profiles opens the window in your profile right away!

Temperature on M5 Macs: The Temperature and Temperature Chart widgets now read the CPU temperature on M5 Macs!

Update troubleshooting: Diagnostics → Export Logs now includes a Software updates section (with personal details removed) that shows exactly where an update stopped, so Appit Studio support can solve update problems faster!

🐛 Bug Fixes

No more crash loops: Running two copies of the same app (for example two Bambu Studio windows opened separately) no longer makes the dock crash over and over!

Manager stays closed: The ExtraDock Manager window no longer pops up by itself when DockFlow or ExtraBar reconnect!

Responsive widgets: App Stack, Folder Stack and launcher widgets respond right after you edit them and right after launch!

Reserve Dock Space: Windows no longer move or resize while that app's menu is open, like FaceTime's ⋯ menu over the dock!

Drops land where you aim: Dropping a file on File Shelf, Trash, Dropbox or AirDrop hands it to that tile instead of pinning it to the dock!

Notch pill hover: On screens without a camera notch, the notch pill no longer pops open while your pointer is over browser tabs just below the top of the screen!

License import: A valid license key no longer shows a server error when you chose Later on importing your ExtraDock 4 license!

Clear messages: If a new window can't be opened from the App Launcher, you now see a message instead of being taken to another Space!

ExtraDock 5.1.0 - AI Help, Connected Apps & Docks That Get Out of the Way! 🤖🔗✨

✨ What's New

Configure ExtraDock with an AI assistant: The new Settings → Integrations → AI Assistants (MCP) section lets assistants like Claude Code or Codex inspect and arrange your docks, items and widgets. It stays off until you turn on Allow AI assistants to configure ExtraDock, and Install or Update Skill adds the bundled ExtraDock Assistant skill in one click!

You stay in control: Deleting docks or items asks for your approval first. Allow for This Session approves the rest of that assistant's changes until it disconnects, YOLO mode (off by default) skips the prompts, and Revert Last AI Change undoes the most recent AI edit without touching changes you made afterwards!

Connect your Appit Studio apps: ExtraDock, ExtraBar and DockFlow now find each other automatically in a new Talk Integrations library at the top of Settings → Integrations, with no pairing codes. Approve a connection once and it reconnects on its own after restarts, and Permissions… and Remove… let you review or take back access at any time!

Hide on Window Hover: A new toggle in each dock's Behavior settings fades the dock out as soon as another app's window overlaps it, and brings it back once the area stays clear. Clicks pass through to the window underneath, and the show/toggle hotkey still brings the dock up whenever you need it!

Refreshed widget library: Search widgets, browse by category and use Configure and Add…, with new artwork for launchers, folders, shelves, Space Awareness, Stripe and more. Clock, CPU and Media Player are redrawn too!

Pinned position controls are back: The Position tab has an Advanced group again for pinned docks, with Offset along edge plus Top, Right, Bottom and Left padding!

🛠️ Improvements

Liquid Glass that always looks right: The bar now uses the same glass as the macOS Dock. It no longer turns into a frosted blur when another app has focus, and switching to Liquid Glass while ExtraDock is running looks exactly like it does after a relaunch!

Clearer glass option: The Liquid Glass toggle that darkens the dock background is now called Dark glass. Your existing setting is kept!

Virtual Trash retired from the library: It can no longer be added, but docks that already have one keep it and it still works!

Notch docks at the start, middle or end of any edge: Notch-style docks are no longer stuck in the centre! Pick leading, center or trailing on every edge - all twelve positions - so one edge can hold three notch docks, like top, middle and bottom on the right edge!

Smooth, end-anchored unfolding: The pill rests at the end you chose and unfolds away from it, with the hover ripple starting right there. Only a top-centre notch merges with the camera notch; top-left and top-right hang just below the menu bar, clear of the screen corners!

Animated moves: Choosing a new spot folds, fades, moves and unfolds the dock instead of jumping - and it moves instantly with Reduce Motion on!

Smarter pickers: The position picker shows all twelve spots and marks the ones another notch dock already uses, and the quick-actions and menu bar menus offer each edge's three ends. Existing centred notch docks stay exactly as they were!

🐞 Bug Fixes

Clicking the active app again works after you minimize or close its window: With "When clicking the active app" set to None (the default), ExtraDock used to ignore a click on the app that was already active - so after minimizing, closing its last window, or sending it to the Stage Manager strip, clicking its icon did nothing until you switched apps! Now the click restores, raises or reopens the app just like the native Dock, and your None / Minimize / Hide / Cycle setting still applies whenever a window is actually on screen.

No more Settings or blank windows popping up on click: Apps like Termius and Claude keep hidden windows around, and ExtraDock could bring one of those forward instead of the main window! ExtraDock now skips windows an app hid itself, and when nothing else is left it reopens the app like the native Dock - so you get the real main window. Minimized windows and windows on other Spaces still come forward as before.

Add Dock no longer fails silently: The Manager's "+" button, Duplicate and the menu bar's New Dock could do nothing while the license needed a refresh! ExtraDock now waits for the check, finishes your click when it succeeds, and explains what to do (with a button to Settings → License) when it can't.

ExtraDock 5.0.10 - Your Docks Come Back After Sleep! 😴✨

🐞 Bug Fixes

Docks come back after sleep and wake: After your Mac woke from sleep or you opened the lid, a dock could stay missing even though ExtraDock was still running! ExtraDock now checks every dock the moment the Mac wakes and again once your displays settle, so docks return on their own, in the same place - including docks pinned to a specific Space.

Live Clock and Calendar icons no longer crash ExtraDock: With a live Clock or Calendar icon in a dock, ExtraDock could quit at midnight or when the Mac woke from sleep. Both cases are fixed, and the icons keep showing the right date and time after midnight, after wake and after a time-zone or clock change!

Widget custom icons survive a relaunch: A custom image set on an App Stack, Folder Stack, Link or Finder widget could disappear after relaunching ExtraDock. Those images now stay put, and deleting one from the Icon Library clears it from the widget too! If an image already went missing, pick it once more and it stays.

⚡ Improvements

Diagnostics that tell a crash from a lost dock: Settings → Diagnostics exports now cover the last 24 hours and note whether ExtraDock was still running when a dock went missing, so support can see what happened at a glance!

ExtraDock 5.0.9 - Folders Open Beside the Dock! 📂✨

✨ What's New

Browse pinned folders beside the dock: Click a pinned folder and its contents open right next to the icon in Grid, List or a curved Fan layout! Double-click opens files or enters subfolders, Back / Command-Up stops at the pinned folder, and you can drag files in from Finder or out to it. Browser drags always copy, so nothing moves by accident - use Cut and Paste to move.

Per-folder view options: Each pinned folder remembers its own click behavior (Browse or Open in Finder), layout, icon size (24–96 pt), grid columns (3–8), grid names, hidden files, sort by name / kind / date modified, reverse order and folders first! View Options live inside the browser and in the folder settings, and they import from ExtraDock 4.

App Stack file browser: Single-click selects, double-click opens, Command-click and Shift-click build multi-selections, and arrow keys move the selection! Right-click for native actions: Open / Open With, Get Info, Quick Look, Share, Tags, Copy Path, Rename, Duplicate, Compress, Copy / Cut / Paste and Move to Trash. Drag groups of files within the stack or to and from Finder - existing files are never silently replaced.

App Stack grid size: Choose 3×3 up to 8×8 per stack (default 4×4), independent of icon density! Large folders scroll instead of clipping.

Monitor Dock preset: The Manager's Items plus menu has a new Monitor Dock command below Native Dock Copy! One click adds CPU, Memory, GPU, Battery, IP Address and Bluetooth Battery, keeps what is already there and skips duplicates.

IP widget adapters, local and public together: Choose Public, Local or Both, pick one or more adapters by their macOS interface name, and see labeled addresses in horizontal and vertical docks! A disconnected adapter shows as disconnected instead of silently switching, and Copy only ever copies a valid address.

App Connections for DockFlow: Settings → Integrations → App Connections lets DockFlow show, hide or toggle your docks through the Talk SDK with explicit, code-verified pairing and per-permission consent! DockFlow can open the request with the permissions already ticked, nothing pairs until you click Start Pairing, the approval panel shows the code in groups of four, and connected apps see every dock you own - including disabled ones. The existing App Group bridge keeps running; DockFlow chooses which path it uses.

Export Performance Diagnostics: Settings → Diagnostics has a new Export Performance Diagnostics… button! Use it while a slowdown or battery drain is happening: it records ExtraDock's own CPU, memory, wakeups and disk activity for about ten seconds, adds power source, Low Power Mode, thermal state and an anonymous summary of your dock setup, and attaches the last 15 minutes of performance-related ExtraDock logs. You choose where to save the file - nothing is uploaded.

⚡ Improvements

Native Dock spacers in Live Dock: Regular and small spacers from your macOS Dock now appear as gaps in the Live Dock at the right positions and follow size changes, moves, additions and removals live! Native Dock Copy imports folder/file-section spacers as Spacer widgets without duplicating the apps-section gaps.

Saved App Stack names everywhere: A custom stack name (for example “Design”) now shows in the Manager's items list and in the dock hover label! Clear it to restore the default title.

Log exports show their real time coverage: The five-hour log export now checks entry dates and reports the actual first and last timestamps it contains, so a report can no longer claim a window it does not cover!

🐞 Bug Fixes

DockFlow preset switches no longer get lost during a Dock restart: When DockFlow applies a preset, macOS restarts the native Dock and ExtraDock briefly repairs its panels - a request arriving in that window used to be answered "unavailable" for every dock, so the preset silently did nothing! ExtraDock now retries the unavailable docks every 200 ms for up to about three seconds, and the newest request always wins.

ExtraDock 5.0.8 - Bigger Magnification, Live Icons! 🔍✨

✨ What's New

Bigger hover magnification: Manager → Style → Hover Magnification → Max scale now goes up to 4× (was 2.5×)! Neighboring icons slide apart around the pointer instead of overlapping, the background grows along the bar while magnified icons rise out of it like the macOS Dock, and labels, badges, running dots, previews and click targets all follow the moved icons. The 1.5× default and your saved value are unchanged.

Live Clock and Calendar icons: Apple's Clock shows a real analog face with moving hands, and Calendar shows today's month and date, in pinned docks, the Live Dock and Space Awareness! A custom icon on that item keeps the custom artwork.

Drag handle side for floating docks: Manager → Position → Floating Position → Drag handle side: Automatic, Screen edge, Inward, Left/Right (Top/Bottom for vertical docks)! Applies to the permanent handle and the hover handle; if there is no room at the chosen end, the hover handle uses the other end.

Reveal pinned docks before the screen edge: Behavior → Auto-Hide on a pinned dock now has Reveal when pointer is: At screen edge or Near screen edge, plus an Advanced reveal distance (Narrow / Standard / Wide)! Clicks outside the dock still reach other apps.

Show Manager on launch: Settings → General → Startup has the Show Manager on launch toggle back! With it off, ExtraDock starts quietly, including at login. First-run onboarding still opens the Manager.

⚡ Improvements

Sharper icons: App icons are rendered at full Retina resolution for the largest size they can reach under your magnification setting, so they stay crisp when zoomed! Notification badges and the attention dot now move and scale with the icon during launch bounce, attention animations and magnification.

Smooth magnification at every falloff radius: The falloff always reaches the neighboring icon, so moving between apps stays smooth even at the smallest Falloff radius!

Steadier Dock replacement: Deep-hiding the macOS Dock shows an "Updating macOS Dock…" status, re-checks itself after sleep/wake and when another utility changes Dock settings, and stops after two automatic repairs with a Retry Dock Setting button instead of looping! The info card now suggests moving the macOS Dock to an unused edge and links to Desktop & Dock settings.

Window previews recover on their own: Granting Screen Recording in System Settings takes effect on the next hover, no relaunch needed! Thumbnails are capped at 32 MB, cleared under memory pressure, and stale capture work is cancelled.

🐞 Bug Fixes

Dock survives Hide Others and Cmd+H: Option+Cmd-clicking the desktop (Finder's Hide Others) or pressing Cmd+H no longer makes the dock, hover labels and previews disappear until the next click! Settings and Manager still hide as expected.

Notch widgets stay readable in Light Mode: Content inside the black notch always uses dark-surface colors, so CPU, Memory, GPU and Battery values are legible regardless of the system appearance!

Manager launch preference is honored: The Manager no longer opens on every launch regardless of the setting!

Notch layout: A dock can now live in the notch! Pick Layout → Notch in the Manager and it folds into a sleek black notch shape that unfolds on hover, with a When-idle control (Show / Pill / Hidden)!

Choose what expands a collapsed dock: Style → Collapse (and the notch Pill settings) now has an Expand using control: Automatic, Handle only, Entire dock, or Click only, plus an optional Extra hover area slider!

Reveal distance for floating docks: Behavior → Auto-Hide lets you choose how close the pointer must get before a hidden floating dock slides in (Exact / Near / Standard)!

Notch pill click: Clicking a folded notch pill now expands it!

⚡ Improvements

Smoother licensing: License and Stripe Keychain work now runs off the main thread, so launch, Keychain consent, license import and the Stripe settings never stall the app!

App Stack popups stay on top: An App Stack opened where two docks overlap is no longer covered by the other dock, so its close button stays reachable!

ExtraDock 5.0.5-beta.2 - Desktop Widgets Know Their Place! 🪟✨

Everything from beta.1, plus a fix for desktop-widget docks reaching through the windows on top of them.

🐞 Bug Fixes

A covered desktop-widget dock stops stealing your mouse: Docks in desktop widget mode sit behind your app windows, but they were still claiming hovers and clicks through whatever was covering them — ExtraDock now asks macOS what is really under the pointer before reacting!

Name pills stay on their own layer: The item name that appears on hover used to pop above every app window, even for a dock parked behind them — it now follows its dock's layer, above your desktop icons but below your windows!

🧪 What We Need You To Test

Park a dock in desktop widget mode and cover it with a normal app window, then move the pointer across the covered area — the dock should stay quiet and the app should get the clicks!

Uncover it again and confirm hover, name pills, and clicks all come straight back!

Check a normal (non-widget) dock too — it should behave exactly as before, floating above your windows!

🔍 Still Under Investigation

The deep-hide edge case from beta.1 is still open: If macOS reveals its own Dock at the physical screen edge, please keep exporting All Docks Diagnostics and sending it over — that evidence is what will close it!

ExtraDock 5.0.5-beta.1 – An Honest Deep-Hide, And The Evidence To Prove It! 🔍🖥️

This is a diagnostic beta. The native-Dock deep-hide is now hardened and, more importantly, honest about what macOS will and won't let it do — and it finally collects the evidence we need to chase the remaining edge case.

✨ Improvements

The setting now tells the truth: Hide native macOS Dock is now Deep-hide native macOS Dock, and it says plainly that macOS can still reveal its own Dock at the physical screen edge or in Mission Control!

A stubborn Dock gets one polite retry: If the preferences apply but the Dock refuses to reload, ExtraDock makes a single bounded retry instead of rewriting keys or spinning up a restart loop!

Deep-hide survives a Dock restart: When macOS replaces the Dock process, suppression is re-applied automatically — and when deep-hide is off, your own Dock settings are never touched!

Much richer support exports: All Docks Diagnostics now captures live Dock preferences, the last apply and retry result, Dock process identity, on-screen Dock window geometry, screen frames, and where your pointer was relative to the edge. Window titles are never collected!

🧪 What We Need You To Test

Turn on Deep-hide native macOS Dock and restart ExtraDock, then try to coax the system Dock out at the physical screen edge — once slowly, once with a fast flick!

Try it on every edge you use: bottom, left, and right, and with more than one display attached if you have them!

Check Mission Control too — note whether the Dock appears there!

If it escapes, export All Docks Diagnostics immediately and send it over with your macOS build, which edge the Dock is on, and your display layout. That export is what turns this from a hunch into a fix!

🔒 Deliberately Not Shipped

No private APIs, no cursor-triggered Dock restarts, no guessed reveal-zone geometry: We'd rather measure the real behavior first than ship a hack that breaks in a future macOS!

ExtraDock 5.0.4 - Docks That Stay Where You Put Them! 🖥️✨

Everything from the 5.0.4 beta rounds, now stable - plus two fresh fixes.

🐞 Bug Fixes

Quitting an app no longer freezes ExtraDock: Choosing Quit from a dock icon's menu could leave the dock and menu bar unresponsive if the app was slow to close - clicks would fall straight through to the desktop!

Two identical monitors are told apart: Two displays of the same make and model used to share one identity, so docks landed on the wrong panel - each screen now keeps its own assignment through sleep, wake, and replugging!

Keyboard shortcuts work with auto-hide: Using a shortcut on a dock set to hide automatically could lock it out of its edge reveal for good - the shortcut is now a temporary peek that hands control straight back!

DockFlow profiles play nice with auto-hide: Switching profiles no longer pins docks open, and restored docks stay revealable!

Live widgets grow instead of squeezing: Your 1-4 cell choice is a minimum now - a widget claims extra space whenever its visible tiles need it!

No more mystery red capsule: iPhone Mirroring and Handoff no longer get drawn as a stretched notification badge!

✨ Improvements

Better support logs: Saving diagnostics now captures the last five hours of activity instead of just the current session, so reporting a problem gets it fixed faster!

A proper app name: ExtraDock now shows its full name everywhere macOS asks for it!

ExtraDock 5.0.4-beta.4 - Shortcuts And Auto-Hide, Finally Friends! ⌨️🫥

Everything from beta.1 through beta.3, plus one targeted fix: a keyboard shortcut can no longer lock an auto-hiding dock out of its edge reveal.

🐞 Bug Fixes

Hotkeys stop breaking edge reveal: If a dock used Hide Automatically together with Toggle with keyboard shortcut, hiding it via the shortcut (or letting the shortcut's re-hide timer fire) marked it as manually hidden — and manual hides outrank auto-hide, so the mouse reveal strip could never bring it back!

The shortcut is now a temporary overlay: With auto-hide on, a shortcut press can reveal an auto-hidden or fullscreen-hidden dock, and a second press or the timed re-hide hands control straight back to automatic policy — so edge dwell works again right afterwards!

No DockFlow rescue required: Switching a DockFlow profile used to be the only way to un-stick these docks. That workaround is no longer needed to get your dock back!

🔒 Unchanged On Purpose

Explicit hides stay sticky: Hiding a dock from the menu or an App Intent still outranks the reveal strip, exactly as before!

Docks without auto-hide are untouched: They keep the familiar sticky hotkey toggle and timed manual-hide behavior, with V4's delay and hover-paused re-hide timing intact!

🔄 Still Testing From beta.1 – beta.3

Live widgets grow instead of squeezing: Your 1–4 cell choice is a minimum, and the widget claims extra whole cells whenever its visible tiles need them!

No more mystery red capsule: iPhone Mirroring/Handoff device identifiers are rejected instead of being drawn as a stretched notification badge!

DockFlow profiles play nice with auto-hide: Profile-selected docks no longer get pinned open, and restored docks stay revealable!

Two identical monitors, told apart: Same-model panels are separate screens again, and your choice survives sleep and wake!

🚀 What’s Next?

The hotkey fix passes 24/24 focused reveal tests and 4/4 DockFlow integration tests, but it really wants real hardware. Set up a left-edge dock with both Hide Automatically and a toggle shortcut, then try: one press to dismiss, the timed re-hide, a second press, hover pause and resume, and edge reveal after every one of those paths — without touching DockFlow. If any path leaves the dock stuck, export All Dock Diagnostics and send them over!

ExtraDock 5.0.4-beta.3 - Widgets That Fit, Badges That Behave! 📶🔴

Everything from beta.1 and beta.2, plus two new fixes: live widgets now grow the dock to fit their content, and stray iPhone Handoff metadata can no longer masquerade as a notification badge.

🐞 Bug Fixes

Live widgets grow instead of squeezing: Bluetooth Battery kept two accessory tiles readable but crammed three or more into the same footprint — your 1–4 cell choice is now a minimum, and the widget claims extra whole cells whenever its visible tiles need them!

No more mystery red capsule: The native Dock can intermittently expose an iPhone Mirroring/Handoff device identifier, which ExtraDock was rendering as a red notification badge stretched across several icons — those values are now rejected outright!

Badges stay badge-sized: Badge content is independently capped, so no unexpected future source can blow a capsule out across neighboring dock items. Ordinary counts, dots,
99+
, and short text badges are untouched!

🔄 Still Testing From beta.1 & beta.2

DockFlow profiles play nice with auto-hide: Profile-selected docks no longer get pinned open, restored docks stay revealable, replicas follow along, and no surprise rehide after a switch!

Two identical monitors, told apart: Same-model panels are separate screens again, your choice survives sleep and wake, and no monitor inherits its sibling's identity!

🚀 What’s Next?

Both new fixes pass the full test suite but want real hardware. For widgets: add a Bluetooth Battery widget, connect three or more accessories, and confirm the dock grows rather than compresses. For badges: with Accessibility and notification badges enabled, use iPhone Handoff and confirm ordinary badges still appear while the device identifier never does. If something looks off, export All Dock Diagnostics and send them over!

ExtraDock 5.0.4-beta.2 - DockFlow Profiles Play Nice With Auto-Hide! 🔄🫥

Everything from beta.1 (the identical-monitor fixes) plus one targeted DockFlow fix. If you switch DockFlow profiles and use auto-hiding docks, this beta is for you.

🐞 Bug Fixes

Profile switches no longer pin your docks open: A dock selected by a DockFlow profile was being pinned onscreen, outranking auto-hide and fullscreen rules until you toggled it by hand — now it simply returns to its own configured visibility!

Auto-hide docks stay revealable: A dock restored to automatic hiding is put back on screen at the right level with its hidden geometry intact, so its edge and halo can reveal it again just like normal!

All-screen replicas follow along: Releasing a dock back to automatic now propagates to every replica, instead of leaving copies on other screens stuck in the old state!

No surprise rehide after a profile switch: A pending hotkey rehide timer is cancelled when a profile hands the dock back to automatic, so it won't vanish a moment later!

🖥️ Still Testing From beta.1

Two identical monitors, told apart: Same-model panels are separate screens again, your choice survives sleep and wake, and no monitor inherits its sibling's identity!

🚀 What's Next?

The DockFlow fix is verified against the test suite but still wants a real machine: pair this with DockFlow 1.76, put an auto-hide dock and a LiveDock dock in a profile, then select it, deselect it, relaunch, and reveal after a hide. If a dock stays pinned or won't reveal, export All Dock Diagnostics and send them over!

ExtraDock 5.0.4-beta.1 - Two Identical Monitors, Told Apart! 🖥️🖥️

A targeted beta for anyone running two displays of the same model. If you have that setup, please test it — screen selection, a relaunch, and a few sleep/wake cycles.

🐞 Bug Fixes

Identical monitors are now separate screens: Two panels of the same model shared one identity, so toggling one screen toggled its twin, removing one removed the other, and per-app placement could land on the wrong panel — each row is now its own screen!

Your choice survives sleep and wake: Selecting a screen records the confirmed layout, so a display that comes back with a recycled system ID no longer drags your docks to the other monitor!

No more copied display identity: Matching now confirms same-model panels against the display's own UUID and refuses an ambiguous match instead of guessing, so one monitor can never inherit its sibling's hardware identity!

A tidier Known Screens list: Screens you hid and leftover ExtraDock 4 entries that nothing references no longer clutter the list, while offline screens that are still assigned stay manageable!

ExtraDock 4 screen imports land correctly: A V4 dock pinned to a screen imports as pinned, and a movable one keeps its preferred screen without being locked to it!

🔧 Improvements

Consistent app name: The app now presents itself as ExtraDock everywhere in macOS — Finder, the menu bar and System Settings!

What's Next?

This fix was verified against the diagnostics two of you sent in, but it still needs a real two-identical-monitor machine. Please select only your secondary screen, relaunch, run a few sleep/wake cycles, then reconnect — and if anything lands on the wrong panel, export Screen Diagnostics and All Dock Diagnostics right away and send them over!

A stabilization release: floating docks hold their position, Finder clicks behave like Finder clicks, launcher apps stop bouncing, and every dock you’ve configured is now reachable straight from the menu bar.

✨ What’s New

Every Dock in the Menu Bar: The ExtraDock status icon now lists each configured dock as its own submenu — Show/Hide, Enabled, Position Mode, Size and Open in Manager…, with New Dock right at the top. The same list appears in the ExtraDock app menu.

Lock Position Is Back: Floating docks get ExtraDock 4’s Lock Position toggle right in their menu, so a dock stays exactly where you put it.

Export Dock Diagnostics: The Manager’s dock menu and Settings → Diagnostics can now write a readable report of a dock’s settings and live state, or all docks at once. App paths, custom names, folder and network locations are redacted first, so the file is safe to send along with a support email.

A Bigger Collapse Button: The collapse button now fills the largest square its slot allows (33 pt → 48 pt at default settings), and custom text accepts up to five characters instead of three. Labels no longer shrink or clip as the dock opens and closes.

🐞 Fixed

Floating docks stay put: Moving the pointer near a dock, or simply leaving one idle next to the macOS Dock, could make it drift, shake or hop between two positions. Only a real drag moves a dock now.

Magnification grows straight out: On a vertical floating dock, magnified icons slid along the bar instead of growing in place. They now expand symmetrically, and their click target matches what you see.

Finder clicks behave like Finder clicks: Finder now honors your dock’s frontmost action — None, Minimize, Hide or Cycle — instead of always jumping to a folder. Minimizing and clicking again restores that window rather than opening a duplicate, and alternating between the macOS Dock and ExtraDock no longer produces dead clicks. Both Finder menus gained the standard New Finder Window command.

Launcher apps stop bouncing: Apps, Screenshot and similar system launchers open their window and quit within milliseconds, which left their icon bouncing for 20–30 seconds with clicks ignored. The icon now settles the moment the app hands off.

Reserve Dock Space respects keyboard and window-manager moves: Snapping a window to a half with a shortcut or Raycast now settles inside your reserved space, even with Active on Drag turned off.

The Screens tab follows the dock you picked: Switching docks in the sidebar while Screens was open left assignments pointing at the previous dock, making per-dock screen settings look universal. Toggles now land on the dock you’re actually editing.

Old ExtraDock 4 dock copies import cleanly: Copies made before March 2026 reused item IDs and failed on import. They’re now repaired automatically, preserving V4 order and content.

🚀 What’s Next?

Nearly every fix in this release started as a tester report or a screen recording — keep them coming, and they go straight to the top of the list.

ExtraDock 5.0.3-beta.8 – Launchers Stop Bouncing! ⚡🎯

🐞 Bug Fixes

Apps and Screenshot Open Instantly: Clicking Apps, Screenshot or any similar system launcher left its icon bouncing for 20–30 seconds even though the window was already open — the icon now settles the moment the app hands off!

Clicks Aren’t Swallowed Anymore: While a launcher was stuck bouncing, further clicks on that item were ignored — the item stays responsive right away!

🚀 What’s Next?

The fix reads each app’s own bundle information rather than hard-coding names, so any app that opens its window and quits behaves correctly — tell us if you spot one that still bounces!

ExtraDock 5.0.3-beta.7 – Finder Clicks That Feel Native! 🗂️🖱️

🐞 Bug Fixes

Finder Follows Your Dock’s Click Behavior: Clicking Finder in an ExtraDock dock now honors that dock’s frontmost action — None, Minimize, Hide or Cycle — instead of always jumping to a folder!

No More Dead Clicks Between Docks: Alternating between the macOS Dock and ExtraDock could minimize, reopen or do nothing at random when the desktop was active but no Finder window was open — every click now reads Finder’s live state!

Your Window Comes Back: Minimizing Finder from a dock and clicking again restores that exact window instead of opening a duplicate!

New Finder Window Command: Right-click the Finder widget or a Live Dock Finder icon for the standard New Finder Window item — the widget opens your configured folder, the app icon opens Home!

Reserved Space Survives Keyboard Tiling: Snapping a window to a half with a keyboard shortcut or window manager now settles inside your reserved dock space, even with Active on Drag turned off!

🚀 What’s Next?

Finder now clicks like the real thing everywhere — if any app still activates the wrong way, send a report and it goes straight to the top of the list!

ExtraDock 5.0.3-beta.6 - Rock-Solid Floating Docks! 🧍♂️📍

🐞 Bug Fixes

No More Idle Hopping: Floating docks parked next to the macOS Dock could drift up and down by a point several times a second while you weren't touching them — unlocked docks now hold their exact position until you move them!

Only Real Drags Move a Dock: Hover and layout activity can no longer nudge an unlocked dock out of place; only an actual drag repositions it!

🚀 What's Next?

Positioning keeps getting steadier — if a dock ever moves on its own, send a report and it goes straight to the top of the list!

ExtraDock 5.0.3-beta.5 - Per-Screen Settings That Stay Put! 🖥️🎯

🐞 Bug Fixes

Screens Tab Follows the Dock You Picked: Switching docks in the sidebar while the Screens tab was open left the screen assignments still pointing at the dock you just left — the tab now re-loads for the newly selected dock every time!

Toggles Land on the Right Dock: Flipping a known-screen switch or Show on All Screens after switching docks no longer writes to the previous dock, so per-screen settings stop looking like they apply to everything!

Clean Slate per Dock: Repair, rename, forget and export state resets with the selection instead of carrying over from the last dock you were editing!

🚀 What's Next?

Multi-display scenarios keep getting sharper — if a dock ever shows up on the wrong screen, send a report and it goes straight to the top of the list!

ExtraDock 5.0.3-beta.4 - Rock-Steady Magnification! 🏗️✨

🐞 Bug Fixes

No More Hover Shake on Vertical Docks: On a floating vertical dock with magnification, sliding the mouse along the bar made icons drift and shimmy up and down — they now grow perfectly in place, straight out from their resting spot!

Every Other Dock Style Untouched: Floating horizontal docks keep their familiar upward lift, and edge-pinned docks still grow away from their edge exactly as before!

Clicks Land Where You See Them: The same fix drives both the drawn icons and their clickable area, so a magnified icon's hit target matches its appearance precisely!

ExtraDock 5.0.3-beta.3 - Tell Us Exactly What Went Wrong! 🩺📋

✨ What's New

Export Dock Diagnostics: Pick a dock in the Manager, open the new Dock Actions button in the toolbar and choose Export Dock Diagnostics… — you get a readable text report of that dock's settings and live state to attach to a support email!

Export Every Dock at Once: Settings → Diagnostics gains an All Docks export that puts every dock you've configured into a single report, right next to the existing screen and log exports!

Real Troubleshooting Detail: Reports capture your ExtraDock and macOS versions, Accessibility and Screen Recording permission status, and each dock's live position, visibility, collapse state and screen — the things we always end up asking for!

Private by Design: App paths, custom item names, folder and network locations and raw widget data are redacted before anything is written, so a diagnostics file is safe to share!

Findable in Search: The new exports show up in Settings search, so typing “diagnostics” takes you straight there!

What's Next?

If a dock ever misbehaves, export its diagnostics before restarting and send the file over — it makes fixes dramatically faster!

✨ What's New

Per-Dock Menu in the Menu Bar: The ExtraDock status icon now lists every dock you've configured as its own submenu — Show/Hide, Enabled, Position Mode, Size and Open in Manager… are all one click away, with New Dock right at the top!

Lock Position Is Back: Floating docks get ExtraDock 4's Lock Position toggle right in their menu — pin a dock exactly where you like it!

Five-Character Collapse Labels: Custom text on the collapse button now accepts up to five characters instead of three, matching ExtraDock 4!

A Bigger Collapse Button: The collapse button now fills the largest square its slot allows — at default settings it grows from 33 pt to 48 pt, so your label is far easier to read!

🐛 Bug Fixes

The Menu Bar Dropdown Is No Longer Empty: Media and your dock list could go missing from the status icon menu depending on launch timing — the menu now builds itself once everything is ready!

Collapse Text Stays the Same Size: Opening or closing a dock no longer resizes the label on its collapse button!

Floating Docks Hold Still: Just moving the mouse could nudge a floating dock back and forth between two positions — pointer movement no longer replays the dock's window geometry!

What's Next?

The new menu bar dock list is the big one to try — open a few docks, flip them between Floating and Pinned, and tell us how it feels!

ExtraDock 5.0.3-beta.1 - Every V4 Dock Imports Cleanly! 📥🔧

🐛 Bug Fixes

Duplicated V4 Docks Import Successfully: If you ever duplicated a dock in ExtraDock 4, its copy could share item identities with the original — and importing that setup into ExtraDock 5 failed outright. Those docks now import cleanly, with every item kept in its original order!

Repaired Automatically, Explained Clearly: When ExtraDock fixes a shared identity it keeps the original item untouched, gives the copy a safe new one, and lists what it repaired in a new Repaired automatically section of the import report — no action needed from you!

✨ What's New

Bluetooth Battery Widget: See the charge level of your AirPods, Magic Keyboard, Mouse, Trackpad, controllers and other Bluetooth accessories right in your dock!

Auto Bar Thickness: Bars now grow and shrink to hug your icons by default, so big icons never overflow — or pick any thickness yourself to pin it!

Custom Icon Size: A new Custom option gives you an exact 20–128 pt slider for icon size!

Dock Actions Everywhere: Right-click any dock item or drag handle for an ExtraDock menu with Hide Dock, Pin to Edge, Copy/Paste Settings and more!

Drag Handle on Hover: Hover a floating dock for a second and a compact move handle appears — even with the permanent handle turned off!

Smooth First Appearance: Docks now fade and scale in gently when they first appear!

🐞 Bug Fixes

No More Jitter: Floating docks parked next to the macOS Dock stay perfectly still!

Dragging Icons Just Moves Icons: Dragging an icon no longer moves the whole dock — only empty bar space does!

Reserve Dock Space Self-Heals: No more toggling it off and on to get your space back!

Item Names Show on Hover: Hover labels and "Always show label" work reliably again, with no extra permissions needed!

No Startup Flash: Docks appear directly at their saved position instead of jumping there a moment later!

Divider Is Compact Again: Back to its original slim footprint, with Side spacing that actually changes it!

Trash Prompt Stays Visible: The Empty Trash confirmation can no longer hide behind the Manager window!

No Stuck Bouncing: Launcher apps can’t leave an icon bouncing forever!

Pin It When You Want To: Pick any thickness preset or drag the new Custom slider and the bar stays exactly there — thickness is still fully yours, with Auto offered as a mode rather than a rule!

Custom Icon Size Slider: Icon size gains a Custom segment with the exact 20–128 pt slider, and the presets settle into one clear Small / Medium / Large vocabulary everywhere!

Everything Refits: Menu quick-sets, "Match macOS Dock Size", themes, paste and import all refit the bar automatically — and an Auto refit carries the matching Soft / Round corner radius with it!

Self-Healing Dock Space: Reserved screen space repairs itself instead of leaving a gap behind!

Compact Dividers Restored: Dividers are back to their proper slim footprint!

ExtraDock 5.0.1 – Polish, Custom Icons & DockFlow! 🎨🔗

✨ What's New

DockFlow Integration: ExtraDock now publishes your docks to DockFlow so the two apps can work together — and the connection stays rock-solid even when DockFlow applies a preset that restarts the macOS Dock!

App-Wide Running Indicator Toggle: A new master switch in Settings → Behavior lets you show or hide the running-app dots across every dock at once — individual docks keep their own opt-out too!

Custom Indicator Color: Pick one color for running indicators across all your docks, or leave it on Default to keep each dock's accent color with the adaptive light/dark palette!

Custom Finder Icons: The Finder widget can now wear artwork of your choosing, with a one-click Use Default to put it back!

Clock Type Size Control: A new Type Size control on the Clock widget lets you dial the text size exactly where you want it!

⚡ Improvements

Running Dots, the Native Way: Running indicators now sit just outside the icon with native-Dock spacing — slightly larger, never overlapping your artwork, and always legible in both light and dark appearance!

Respects Your Launch Animation Setting: Turn off Animate opening applications in macOS and ExtraDock skips the launch bounce too — Reduce Motion still wins!

Gesture Menus Tell the Truth: When click or scroll gestures are off app-wide, item menus now show that clearly and offer Enable Click Gestures / Enable Scroll Gestures right where you need them!

Deeper Integration Diagnostics: ExtraDock now logs Dock restarts, dock repairs, and every DockFlow request and response, making integration issues much easier to trace!

Docks Survive a Dock Restart: When macOS relaunches its own Dock, your ExtraDock docks repair themselves instead of disappearing — hidden docks stay hidden, and show/hide is only confirmed once the window actually reaches the requested state!

Gauge Text Colors Are Back: CPU, GPU and Memory widgets get their Automatic / White / Black / Custom text modes again — including colors carried over from ExtraDock 4!

Clock No Longer Shrinks After Import: Imported clocks keep their full two-cell width!

Flexible Spacer Width Restored: Custom width is back to the full 2–3000 point range, and V4 spacer sizes import correctly!

Running Apps Gestures Stick: Per-app click and scroll overrides now save durably and survive a restart!

V4 Import & Multi-Display Fixes: Hidden docks import correctly again, and docks land on the display you expect!

Smooth Multi-Display Dragging: Dragging a dock between displays no longer shakes or jumps at the screen seam, with steadier edge and corner snapping!

App Stack Custom Icons Are Back: Full ExtraDock 4 parity — pick your own artwork, revert to default, and imported V4 icons come along for the ride!

No More Endless Bouncing: Launcher-style apps like Apps and Screenshot can no longer leave an icon bouncing and unclickable — a 20-second safety net always ends it!

Chrome Web Apps Restore Properly: Un-minimizing a Chrome-installed web app no longer makes it flash back and disappear!

Microsoft Teams Stays Alive: Clicking Teams in your dock no longer risks terminating it — it now uses safe public activation!

Running Indicators No Longer Clip: The running dot stays fully visible at Small, Medium, and Large on every edge and floating orientation!

Dark Mode Icons Refresh: App artwork updates the moment you switch appearance — no more stale light-mode icons!

Widgets Fill Their Cells Again: Launcher and static widgets are back to full size — no more shrunken artwork at Medium and Large!

No More Double Instances: Relaunching ExtraDock no longer leaves two copies running at once!

Reliable Diagnostics Export: Exporting logs no longer fails with a cryptic error — it retries, verifies the file, and reports real problems clearly!

Running Apps Gestures Stick: Per-app click and scroll overrides now save durably and survive a restart!

V4 Import & Multi-Display Fixes: Hidden docks import correctly again, and docks land on the display you expect!

No More Double Instances: Relaunching ExtraDock no longer leaves two copies running at once!

✨ Improvements

Gesture Menus Tell the Truth: When click or scroll gestures are off app-wide, item menus now show that clearly and offer Enable Click Gestures / Enable Scroll Gestures right where you need them!
